About one month ago, we talked via Skype with some students from New York. It was a wonderful experience. We asked questions to each other. They were very friendly, we had a lot of fun.We chatted for about an hour in Spanish. We were shocked when they started talking because their Spanish was perfect. Afterwards, we realized that even though the students live in New York, most of them descend from latinamerican parents who live in NYC because they work at ONU.
We talked about very different aspects, most of them related with cultural stereotypes and Spanish and American customs. They also showed us the inside of their school and the views of New York city. Our idea of the city was exactly what we thought: the school corridors, the views… everything was just as a movie. The students showed us the Empire State through the windows of their school, which is located right in front of the ONU building.
In general, we were glad to speak with them and we are looking forward to the next exchange, which is going to be carried out in English next time.
